CHARACTER NAME: Rosalie Cullen
SERIES: Twilight
CANON POINT: Pre-Bella, sometime during the early 2000s I guess
LOSS: Memories of her soul mate, Emmett. It's her husband, and the one she's loved more than anybody in her lifetime. It'll be horrible for her have to know she has somebody like that but can't remember who they are.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER: Rosalie's life was perfect. She was the daughter of a housewife and a rich father who kept their family stay wealthy during the Great Depression. She had two younger brothers. Throughout her life, she was constantly praised and complimented for her beauty, which turned her incredibly vain and self-centered. Her parents supported this and her father indulged her with beautiful clothing. The attention she received from this turned her into a materialistic, shallow snob. Seeing as how her family was already in the top social status, she was content with her life and just being the beautiful Rosalie Hale. What she really wanted out of life was to settle down and be the beautiful wife to a rich husband.
One day, Rosalie was asked by her mother to deliver her father's lunch to him at his work. She wanted one of the sons of the bank's owner to notice Rosalie, and, lo and behold, it worked. Rosalie and Royce King II - her first love - began a courtship. He sent her flowers and complimented her eyes being similar to violets. Their relationship was not deep or meaningful, instead focused on physical attraction. When the two became engaged, Rosalie realized her life couldn't get more perfect. However, when she visited a close friend a week before the wedding, she fell in love, once more, with the friend's young infant son. The relationship between Vera and her husband was filled with love, obvious enough to Rosalie for her to realize that her relationship with Royce was nothing like it. Probably never would be anything like it. That night, on her way walking home, her drunk fiancee and his drunk friends came across her. Royce bragged to them about her beauty; they brutally raped and beat her then left her to die in the street. Bloody and broken, she awaited death to take her and relieve her pain. No such thing happened, of course.
Carlisle Cullen was attracted to the scent of her blood and saved her life, turning her into a vampire and forcing her to endure even worse pain. When she awoke, she discovered Edward and Carlisle arguing about her being a vampire. Carlisle wanted the two to be mates, but Edward rejected her. She was more furious at the shot to her ego than any real feelings towards him - of which she had none - and her already unhappy mood turned worse. Of course, Rosalie wouldn't let Royce and his scumbag friends get away with what they did. Brutally, she murdered them and saved Royce for last, stalking each and every one of them. She found him locked in a room, fearful for his life, and after killing his guards, tortured him to death. All in a wedding dress, and without spilling a single drop of blood from the seven men she had killed.
Two years later, when the Cullens had traveled south, she came across a young man being mauled by a bear. He reminded her of Vera's infant son, and love bubbled up inside of her. Exercising extreme self-control, she carried him one hundred miles to Carlisle, who turned him into a vampire to save his life. After that, the two of them were inseparable. Her mood brightened and her love for him rivaled anything else she had ever experienced in her life. The two of them married often and married hard, sometimes leaving for several weeks at a time to live as the 'newlywed couple' on their honeymoon. When they were in Washington in the 30s, they were discovered by a pack of shape-shifters. The two of them formed a treaty- they would keep the Cullens' identity a secret and they would not bite humans. Years later, the family left, as they often did after a few years had passed. A new couple joined them in the beginning of the 50s, Alice and Jasper, who looked nearly identical to Rosalie. Overall, Rosalie got along well with her 'siblings', though fights and spats occurred often.
Over the years, Rosalie has attended many universities and high schools, learning and earning degrees in electrical engineering, business, astrophysics, and medicine. She is also an incredibly skilled mechanic and a good musician, though nowhere near as good as the star child of the Cullen family, Edward. Her personality, while nearly a century had passed, has remained fairly consistent. She is incredibly loyal to her family, willing to do anything for them. Humanity, she feels, is the best thing in the world for a woman. The only woman she had ever envied was Vera with her beautiful child and loving marriage. As a vampire, she could only have half of what she had had; while vampire men could impregnate women, the women could not carry children (and yes, Rosalie and Emmett tried a lot). Despite her lovely life now as a vampire, she would trade anything to be human again. On the outside, she is bitter, quick to anger, and cold; a straight-up bitch, as some would say.
ABILITIES: SHE SPARKLES IN THE SUNLIGHT. Also apparently her beauty was really enhanced by her being a vampire so she's, like, the prettiest girl of all vampiresI wish I was making that up. As with all vampires, she has enhanced speed, strength, senses, etc. She is also really good at mechanics and music, as mentioned previously.
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE: I wish for a new dress. In her mind, she imagined a Versace dress, elegant and not so much practical as beautiful. And, of course, there it appeared on her unused bed. Her golden eyes traveled over the fabric before her. A smile never reached her lips nor her eyes, but she felt happy. Something ... something like happiness. Emotions felt strange here, knowing she was forgetting something - somebody - important. It didn't feel right.
"Beautiful," she murmured. She glanced at the large mirror on the wall, littered with little notes and pictures she had taken herself of the castle and the few people she could stand here. She almost felt ... like how the normal 'teenage' girls here felt. Or so they had said to her. Months here had only forced the idea of home deeper into her mind, and she had shoved it back to save her from the depression and anger that nobody else seemed to experience here. So far, she had managed to keep her 'little secret' just that, but only by not attracting attention to herself. It was difficult with her beauty and blonde locks, but she managed. Her speed and keen senses helped greatly with that. She was only seen when she wanted to be, and could expertly weave her way out of a conversation with somebody.
She scowled at her reflection. Look at her, at what she had become-- the same vapid, senseless, foolish girl she had been before she was turned on the outside, and an angry bitch (and she could admit this) on the inside. She was fed up with this place. It was hard to feed in secret, and more than once she had almost gotten caught. Unable to read minds like her brother but able to catch onto social cues better than him, she knew that if she kept up her act, she would be liked. Accepted.
The last thing she wanted in this huge, magical castle was to be alone in her misery.
FIRST-PERSON JOURNAL SAMPLE: journal entry ]
[ The entry is written in elegant cursive, perfectly precise. ] How precious is life to you? What would you give to have your life given back to you?
The interpretation of this question is open-ended. There are no right or wrong answers. I am aware that some are considered dead back in their home worlds, and Iam admit will admit that I am also one of those. And no, I will not tell you my story. Unlike most of you, I do not share such personal things on a whim.
[ There is something heavily scratched out here, nothing legible can be salvaged. ] I will not divulge my own answers, so don't ask. You'll be wasting your time.
That is all. Thank you.
INTENT: This game needs some sparkling vampires.
